The Checklist Manifesto
Cheap The Checklist Manifesto Discount Review Shop
This book is about the value of the "lowly" checklist. It is written by a working surgeon, a two-time author, a contributor to the New Yorker, and a consultant to the World Health Organization on, among other things, checklists. It is, as I write. the #1 best selling book on Amazon in the subcategory of Surgery.
It talks about how checklists have, and are, in real life around the world saving lives, eliminating mistakes and saving hospitals and patients millions of dollars. The breadth of the impact is extraordinary.
While this book will be fascinating from a medical or social sciences perspective, and would make great cocktail party conversation fodder, that is not why I recommend you read it.
Underneath that level of content, the book is about change, personal organizational and global. It brings together various professions, beyond medicine to illustrate it's points. It is also about quality, quality improvement and the value of documented work processes
As a leader these two issues - change and quality are both highly important. To read about them in an enlightened, entertaining and highly thought provoking way from a book that isn't completely "about" those subjects makes it even more valuable.
This is a book to read and enjoy. It may make you more interesting at your next dinner party. It may change the way you think about health care and your next surgery. It can also make a difference in your ability to lead.
This book is highly recommended. Get your copy today.

Find your proposal? Not only Google, surf the Stacks at your library
Image : http://www.flickr.com
I've always loved libraries. I suspect the reason is, as fortuitous as is practical. Yes, I was need to find information. Equally exciting was the information that you would find me. I would wander batteries, control of newspapers around the world, a vast selection of magazines and reference books on every conceivable topic. There was always something new and fascinating to learn. Then came Google.
Google is the first place, nowTo turn for help. The search engine allows me to often find what I need in a matter of moments. Or give me advice on where to look. Why is it so special? An important reason is that in a time when we do things quickly, fast Google. Blocking "Network overthrown, Google has so much, so fast. But not always.
When I look for information, I would like to analyze the material, if it is a book, a magazine report. I like having the physical material in hand, canidentify the relevant facts with self-stick notes in all the colors meet, or pages to photocopy. You can not browse a book, magazine or online journal. But can the library.
I am currently doing some research for a chapter on immigration. I want to find a way to bring immigrants to Canada to inspect the Aborigines in this country when the processes of Aboriginal unemployment is as high as it is. I tried Google and did not take much. A visit to the Edmonton Public Library was awaymore successful. By scanning the various issues of the journal Aboriginal, I found exactly what I was looking for. I also found independent information that can be used for other work I'm doing now.
So that brings me to an important point. What is the easiest way more practical and productive to find what you're looking for? I make the case that your local library, your best bet. Given its databases, have access to databases in the industry and employment to benot easily access or search engine. Libraries have a wealth of information about local conditions that may be valuable for any entrepreneur or small business that markets and serves the local community.
And libraries are the people. Account reference librarians at most precious resources and friendly, I know. As a rule, the information you need to know where, how to find access to them, and even Suggest sources or resources that would not have considered. You can get all this for a modest annual fee or even free.
Then there's serendipity that I mentioned earlier. Just check the magazine reminds me of what I do not know, and as I'd like to know. Then something pierces my eye and is still a fascinating piece of information about my personal database added. Once again I am surprised, as if to show these things. Call, browse the stacks, if you want.
So next time you need information to start using all meansGoogle. But remember your local library - can help a lot to offer you, then you have to write an effective research proposal.

And 'likely that the public library has computers in its cabins, which are still connected to the Internet. Not only is the public library computers as tools for private investigator, but also books that are of great reference valueResources.
For the purposes of traceability jump, the directory the two most important resources using a private investigator at the local library, which intersect (aka reverse city directory or a directory) and, believe it or not, old telephone directories.
The main branch of your local library has telephone directories, not just the city where you live, but in large cities across the country. It also includes phone books for many other cities in your state.
IfYou have a phone number or street address in a city outside of their own, the city's library and request information. If possible, information exchange is the opinion of address, name, phone number, or put them in the directory Local back and forth and give you the information.
Some libraries maintain a collection of telephone directories spanning the last 10 years for your city or such municipality. If you miss the analysis of an individual whoseAddress no longer valid, you can browse the library of old phone books and determine when, give or take a year or so, subject to your move. The next step is to verify the length and width of directories and identify neighbors who was there at the same time the subject has lived. Then you use the latest back and forth to see if one of those neighbors still live there and go out and talk to them to see what they know. It 'possible that they know very well that yourSubject and maybe you can tell where he or she goes. They may even know the name of your employer is subject.
By the age of Internet, many libraries now have access to databases for pay from home, adding to your library card number for access. I bet you did not know Did you know? Databases such as directories through, Thompson-Gale, and much more accessible to the public with a library card. If you do not have access to these databases from theirComputer at home with your library card number, you can get to these databases, access the library computers.

I recently had to purchase this book for a correspondence class on art appreciation. My teacher however failed to list the edition I needed to buy so all of her questions and such do not correspond with any of the figures featured in my textbook. Anyways, I looked at this book with my kids for about 2 hours when it first came in the mail. I love the color reproduction and all the background info given on all the pieces. I only gave it four stars because the author has a tendency to tell you what you should be feeling when looking at each work while I would like to form my own opinion.

AA Hussain - Books in Hyderabad
Image : http://www.flickr.com
What you see - Located in the bustling and busy Abids, right next to Santosh / Sapna cinema hall, a shop AA Hussain carries a piece of history with him, Hyderabad. The structure of the library Hyderabad recalls the old days. After all, it has been since 1929.
The entrance is crowded with nearly every pound put in batteries. The presence of the towers of books is a little 'intimidating, but the whole is neutral. The founder, RiazathHussain, was a philatelist and she started as a library for children. The company is now run by his family.
Hussain has seen several expansions since its inception. It is an extension that is on the ground floor of a large collection of postcards and a first floor, which has a surface area for children, (this was the only place where you would find Archie Comics, long before other libraries Came To Hyderabad) . The shop is located among many of the old schools of Hyderabad and that iswhere you come from a loyal audience.
What you get - The store seems very confused and does not have much traffic area, you can easily allow you to browse the titles. In reality, no more than ten people can stay here in a moment.
Then you ask someone to make you seem interesting titles on hand. The staff is very efficient and find books that required very quickly. The request can be books of all kinds, andis a matter of minutes will be presented.
On the other hand, if a specific song in mind, the sales staff are happy to do it for you. This is actually one of the best places to go if you have a specific title or genre in mind. Although it is not available, try the shop and source for you.
The store shelves thinks of Indian writers, religious books, books on self-development, health and fitness, literature reference and pounds. OnceYou can get more familiar with the store, you must track to find some unusual books for those who are hidden in some remote corner and possibly a decent discount. The store also has an interesting collection of books and reference material relating to films and sports.
The verdict - AA Hussain is the best place to find the books you need. The collection is large and wide and covers almost all areas of interest, especially fiction. MostCustomers never leave the store disappointed and then tend to repeat buyers. Ask at the reception of an informal yet interesting article on recent books on the recommendations of the shop. Named municipal parking available in abundance on the opposite side of the road.

Spark Notes The Killer Angels for $2.68
Cheap Spark Notes The Killer Angels Discount Review Shop
One of the most brilliant, moving, extraordinary, and beautiful novels I have ever read, The Killer Angels details the events of the Battle of Gettysburg from the perspective of the men who fought it. Union soldier Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain is a professor turned soldier that will make a brilliant tactical move out of desperation, a move that not only will win the battle but perhaps the war. Chamberlain is fighting the war to destroy the aristocratic South that has no business owning slaves in the democratic United States, but is also fighting to understand his feeling toward the black man and his role as a soldier. On the Confederate side, James Longstreet is fighting a war he doesn't believe in, knows he cannot win, against his own men and own army, using tactics that he knows will result in massacre and failure. And he can't even quit. Longstreet's ideas are decades ahead of his time and are considered cowardly in this age of Romantic chivalry and honor. This is the story of two armies clashing in an epic battle. One a homogeneous army of white, protestant men fighting for disunion, for their "rights", homes, and honor. They fight with morale under a leader they adore. The other, an army deeply varied in customs, religion, language, and color, fighting for the union of the country under the ideal that all men are created equal. This powerful, fascinating and very readable novel brings to life and understanding this momentous, chaotic, complex period of history, brings to life the men who fought this war, brings to life what went through their tortured souls and minds with staggering brilliance. An amazing novel. Grade: A+

The Stranger
The Stranger is a novel by Albert Camus; the novel is a perfect example of existentialism. The main character is a Frenchman Meursault, one of the first things the reader will notice is that Meursault is detached form the world, on hearing his mother's death he does not break down into tears as most people would. Rather he sees it as just another event in his life, as if he ordered some coffee. The behavior of Meursault is classified as existentialism, being non emotional and being a man of few words, Meursault is the perfect anti-hero. The novel is separated into 2 parts. The first part describes Meursault's interactions with his friends, having sex with Marie, drinking with Raymond, watching Salamano with his dog and eating food at Celeste's. Meursault shows no ambition and no emotion in his everyday life. When at his mother's funeral he just walks and proceeds with what is necessary, he does not even know her age. At the end of part one Meursault murders an Arab while taking a walk on the beach. Part two consist of officials attempting to convert Meursault to Christianity. They say if he shows some sign of remorse or converts then they will set him free, yet he refuses. And at the end he is finally executed with no remorse, he does not have any feelings for his actions.
The Stranger is a different type of read form most novels. The heavily laced existentialism causes the main character to react to his surrounds with no emotion. The beginning of the novel is seemingly dull, as he has zero emotions or concerns and talk in short sentences. The initial thought was extremely boring and not at all a good read. But after a few paragraphs, the reader realizes that the novel is not like any other, the main character is more of an anti-hero, he does nothing brave. He turns down any chance to advance in his career and just enjoys the physical things in life. The first couple of chapters are there to setup Meursault's behavior, his way of life and his embrace of the physical things in life. The murder of the Arab is the climax of the story, although he could be let off easily Meursault refuses to take the easy way and remains true to his ideals. There in that aspect Meursault turns form the anti-hero into a hero. Staying with his ideals, Meursault is like every other comic book hero, despite the danger he still remembers his ideology and sticks with it. The usage of the short sentences and the lack of emotion in the book enforce the existentialist idea. Although the novel is a different style of writing, it still is a very excellent read. Meursault depicts a man that has no cares in the world, I see Meursault as what would happen if humans retained no emotion. This book gets a thumbs up and I recommend it for a light read, it's short and simply phrased yet the meaning of the book is deep; the dark side of the human soul with no emotion or ambition.

"Rejoicing in the world, His earth,
And having my delight in the sons of men." -- Proverbs 8:31
Can one person make a difference for the poor, the helpless, and those with no hope? The case histories in this book will encourage you to think that it's more than possible: The process can be studied, taught, and encouraged as journalist David Bornstein recounts this point through his story of what the Ashoka foundation is doing to develop social entrepreneurs and establish a discipline that can be rapidly improved through sharing of best practices. Whether you are a social entrepreneur, want to become one, or want to encourage what they do, this book is must reading. It systematizes much of what is scattered throughout many speeches, good stories, brief articles, and a variety of excellent books.
The book's main weakness is that it doesn't do enough to draw more than big-picture conclusions about social entrepreneurs. To me, those profiled here simply look like successful business model innovators who care more about the social impact of what they do than the financial rewards for themselves. As a result, the book's focus is a little too narrow to be totally useful. There are also for-profit entrepreneurs who great vast amounts of social benefit using different, but similar, methods to what is described here. Both groups can learn a lot from one another. I suspect that there are also other streams of creativity conjoining as well, such as I often see accomplished by people who want to systematically raise up socially conscious entrepreneurs by the tens of millions in Africa, Asia, and South America.
I hope that this book will be updated and expanded in scope every year or two. That will be a great blessing for those who are interested in the field and those who want to help it advance.
Bravo, Mr. Bornstein!

Jane Eyre
Cheap Jane Eyre Discount Review Shop
I'll confess I wasn't particularly looking forward to "Jane Eyre" when I started. I wanted to read it because I should read it, and because it's a travesty I haven't read it - until now. I assumed it would be dry, at times forcefully witty - a hunt for a man and a conquest. That sort of thing.
Not a bit of it!
Charlotte Brontë creates in Jane a character with whom I find much in common: her manner of thought, her silented spirit, her tendency to love fully and passionately - to sketch, to think, to be content within herself.
As a child she is abused by her stepmother and detested for her untamed spirit. She's sent away to school where her dear (and first) friend Helen Burns teaches her to stand bravely under reprimand - and to focus her courage.
As Jane advances in school she becomes mellowed - but still the passion broods beneath. The story carries into her young adulthood when she becomes a teacher (at the same school where she grew up) and determines to see what there is in life beyond teaching and solitude and walls. So the orphan woman-child advertises for a governess position and is quickly hired at the home of the restless and gruff Edward Rochester - a man who finds Jane's controlled attitude, her level stare, her unfailing honesty and scathing intelligence enchanting. As their love develops, Jane realizes a secret about Edward that cannot be loved away, and she tears herself bodily from him, a terrified, frightened, heartbroken girl-woman once again homeless.
I've no wish to spoil it for those who haven't read it, but suffice it to say, this fourth classic in all that I have read in my life surely inspires me to read more of its kind! I had no idea a Victorian woman would create a story with such passion. I feel moved to write, moved to create, and at a level with Brontë that far exceeds death or time. She is a writer, a fervent spirit, and I stand here, nearly two centuries after her death, feeling shoulder-to-shoulder with her. She gives that much of herself to the work. I cried both at the last segment where she is a child, and the end of the novel itself (something I can't recall ever doing while reading.)
Having read formula fiction all my life, I'm in particular impressed with Brontë's power of description.
Brontë breaks norm often by flipping to the present tense, creating a quickness of spirit that contrasts remarkably with the more doleful passages. I find her writing comfortable - for want of a better word. Reading her tale was a pleasure - at times deep with wisdom, at times amusing with spirit, at times very doleful. She tours the human plane of emotion, twisting the plot quite more feverishly than I'd anticipated. Several times I sat forward in astonishment as the plot twisted and volted.
So much symbolism in this novel, and captured so beautifully, like a still life - the virgin moon, the burning, lustful fires that destroy, fade out, then flicker anew atop candles before a fading portrait of love beautified as the novel draws to a close. In particular I'm struck by the irony in the way Jane and Mr. Rochester meet - and the way the story closes.
I fell in love with Rochester quickly - I don't know why. He is rude, arrogant, and self-interested. Yet his changeable (nearly childlike) spirit - and his admiration for all that is reprehensible in Jane to everyone else - captured my heart.
Brontë writes both as a Romantic and a Victorian - challenging the church, female diffidence, and `the norm' - and presenting her prose as richly as a woman in love and as candidly as a man of her generation before the court. A writer caught between worlds--and isn't that the richest place to be as a writer?
5 out of 5 stars for Jane Eyre. I gave to Brontë sleepless nights - and that's no embellishment.

By shifting the weight off the dated and unpopular textual criticism which once dominated Norton Critical Editions (now in an unobtrusive appendix), this version makes the book relevant to the current critical environment. This version emphasizes the historicity and sociopolitical implications that students and general readers often prefer.
Besides critical stalwarts like Chinua Achebe and Patrick Brantlinger, editor Paul B. Armstrong, succeeding Robert Kimbrough, brings in timely voices like Adam Hochschild and Edward Said. He also makes this edition intertextual by weaving in criticism on the book's relationship to Coppola's "Apocalypse Now." Since young audiences may know that movie better than this book, that makes for an interesting and germane supplement to this edition.
Not only does Armstrong guide us through the concerns of the late 19th century, when this book was written, but he also demonstrates how this book remains vital to our lives today. The racial, economic, and national concerns which were Conrad's bread and butter still take place today. And we read this book, Armstrong shows us, not because it's old and well-written, but because it speaks directly to the world of the early 21st century.
Heart of Darkness has so much going on, but is often sold to be read like a paperback novel. Too many people think it's a dull academic exercise written to torment students. Thus I recommend this edition. Not only do you get an action-packed and dreamlike story, you also get a guide to lead you through the many implications of the novel. This compact, affordable edition makes this novel as timely as journalism written today, and far more exciting.
